For more than five decades, Prevent Child Abuse America has invested in innovative and evidence-based strategies that support primary prevention and family support services, as well as provide the field with the necessary tools, resources, and knowledge to create the conditions for all children, families, and communities to thrive. “The Family Well-being Indicators” is one such innovation.
Developed in partnership with families, community leaders, public health professionals, private philanthropy, and other national partners, The Family Well-being Indicators compiles the national and state data needed to understand what it takes to build supportive environments and relationships where all children can grow up happy, healthy, and prepared to succeed.
Here you will find datasets that identify promising trends such as reductions in adverse childhood experiences, child flourishing estimates, as well as child maltreatment investigations, victimizations, and fatalities. By hovering over the interactive map feature, you can quickly access state-level summaries, follow specific indicators, read short descriptions, and dive deeper into the data sources themselves. You can also print state-level profiles to assist you in your efforts to advance primary prevention in your communities.
With the right tools and information, we can activate the evidence for a brighter future. And when we move together—across states, systems, and communities—our impact is amplified.
We all play a role in ensuring all children and families are living a purposeful and happy life with hope the future. Find your role today.
